Douglas Reyes is a bilingual educator and school leader with more than 10 years of experience in education, specializing in adult education, instructional leadership, English language development, and GED instruction. He currently serves as Evening Principal at The Next Step Public Charter School in Washington, DC, where he provides leadership to teachers and students and oversees the academic and operational needs of the evening program.

Before becoming Evening Principal, Douglas served as an Instructional Coach and Adult Literacy Teacher at The Next Step, supporting teachers through coaching cycles, professional learning communities, classroom observations, reflective conversations, and professional development. His previous experience also includes teaching ESL and GED courses and coordinating English language programs in both the United States and El Salvador. These experiences have shaped his collaborative and student-centered approach to school leadership.

Originally from El Salvador, Douglas holds a master’s degree in University Teaching and a bachelor’s degree in English. He has also completed specialized training in instructional leadership, adult education, and instructional coaching. As Evening Principal, Douglas is committed to building a school community where students feel welcomed, respected, and supported in reaching their goals. He believes effective leadership requires being present, listening to students and staff, building strong relationships, and working collaboratively across departments. His goal is to continue strengthening the evening program while serving as a dedicated ally for student success.
