Childcare
The Next Step PCS provides free on-site childcare for students enrolled at The Next Step Public Charter School while they attend classes and participate in TNS events.
Our free on-site childcare programs support parenting students and boost their confidence and well-being by offering resources and learning opportunities that reduce stress and improve community engagement. We strive to support a child’s social and emotional development, build school readiness, and strengthen parenting skills in a supportive setting.
We offer two Full-time Childcare Options that align with the courses and programs at TNS.
The Day Program:
The Day Program has 8 spots for infants ages 6 weeks to toddlers up to 3 years old.
*Children ages 3 and up are encouraged to apply to DCPS Universal Pre-K 3 and DCPS.
The Evening Program:
The Evening Program has 12 spots available for children aged 3 to 12. We accept children under age 3 based on staffing and space availability.
When space is available, we offer childcare for placement tests, assessment tests, and GED testing.
We require each child’s Birth Certificate, DC Health Certificate, and Immunization record.
Parenting students must apply for child care each year, and it is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
By providing parenting students with the convenience of free on-site childcare, we reduce the financial burden of childcare and offer peace of mind, helping them achieve a better school-work-life balance and focus on their educational journey.
