Food Service

The Next Step's food service program provides free breakfast, lunch, and supper to TNSPCS students in accordance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) policy. The Next Step's meals will be provided by Eagle Academy PCS.

The Next Step Public Charter School (TNS) participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), and possibly the Seamless Summer Option Program (SSO).

During the 2023-2024 school year, TNS will operate under SBP, NSLP, and SSO offering breakfast, and lunch. Supper will be offered through school funding directly, not under a federal program. The Next Step PCS provides all meals free to TNS students, while attending the day or evening program, on the day meals are consumed.

Meals under the SSO program will be provided during extended school breaks.

If you have any questions, please email Monique Mitchell, Chief Operating Officer at mmitchell@nextsteppcs.org. We look forward to continuing to bring high-quality service and support to our students and families.

LOCAL WELLNESS PLAN FOR TNS (2022 - 2025)

The Next Step Public Charter School fully supports the Healthy Schools Act of 2010 and has developed a wellness policy to ensure its implementation. A TNS committee must review the plan at least twice a year and complete a triennial assessment every third year, and all updates to the wellness plan will be posted on this website.

TNS students may participate on the committee that reviews, edits, and finalizes the Local Wellness Plan. TNS welcomes the participation of students in addition to other community members. If you are interested in joining the Local Wellness Committee, please contact Monique Mitchell, Director of Finance Administration and Compliance at mmitchell@nextsteppcs.org.
