Diego Fernandez

¡Hola! As the Assistant Principal of The Next Step PCS, I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment. My goal is to ensure that students' experiences within the school's walls are both positive and enriching.

After completing my degree in Computer Engineering in Spain, I came to the United States to learn English, a process that never ends. I worked at the Office of International Students at Northern Virginia Community College and transitioned to a teaching position at The Next Step PCS. Currently, as an administrator, I have the opportunity to help students outside the limits of a classroom, and that is what drives me.

With a Master's in Education, experience in educational leadership, and as a teacher, I am aware of the struggles our students go through, and I do everything in my ability to bridge those gaps and provide access to the best education possible. My philosophy centers on nurturing a love for learning and empowering students to reach their full potential. To achieve this, students need the safe space the school provides, where they can flourish without fear.

I am committed to collaborating with educators, school staff, parents, and students to create a haven of education. Beyond the school walls, you might find me exploring the outdoors, in another country, or immersed in a good story told in a book, movie, or even a video game.

I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to contributing to the continued success of our beloved students and community.
